Peres was displaced by flood water from her home, leaving her without shelter or…

Peres was displaced by flood water from her home, leaving her without shelter or household items. With 1 year old Walter, she was displaced.

In malaria-prone areas, floods can heighten the risk of the disease for families because of increased mosquito activity in standing water. After a spring flood in Katito, Kenya, World Vision supplied mosquito nets to help protect families, including Peres and her 1-year-old son, Walter.

“I lost everything, my household items were washed away. Life was difficult as I had nothing to eat. Luckily World Vision provided me with a blanket, tarpaulin to make shelter, a mosquito net to protect my child Walter from the risk of Malaria, cooking items and soap to protect me from communicable diseases.” She says

Thanks to supporters like you, we are working to prevent malaria and ensure people in affected areas stay safe and healthy. We play a significant role in fighting malaria by proving people, in places where malaria is a threat, the tools the need to reduce mosquito bites and malaria risk. #WorldMalariaDay
